Swires Cold Storage
Xflam insulation board can replace completely Expanded Polystyrene as the core material for cold store construction, or a “mix and match” philosophy can be employed to compartmentalize a building into fire cells using Xflam Panel in conjunction with Expanded Polystyrene Panel in the same panel system.
For the Swires Cold Storage facility a very cost effective solution has been to work with one panel supplier (Austral Insulation VIC) able to offer fully compatible panels but with fire rated and non-fire rated insulation providing an exceptionally cost effective solution for the building owners. For this facility Xflam Panel was used in separation strips through the two freezer rooms and in a fully fire rated wall between the two freezers.
The separation strips of Xflam stop potential fire spread through the walls and ceiling due to the fact Xflam is a thermoset material and remains dimensionally stable when heated.
The isometric above shows how Xflam Panel has been incorporated into the design of this project to provide efficient fire compartmentalization.
